Process crash via unchecked apply argument length
Published Feb 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory-safety error in njs 0.7.1 and earlier allows attackers to crash an njs process via crafted JavaScript code. Function.prototype.apply reads array->start without checking for a fast-array representation and accepts an excessive argument-list length; the malformed result later causes njs_object_set_prototype to dereference an invalid high address. Reachability requires an njs deployment to execute attacker-controlled JavaScript; the documented consequence is a process crash, with no demonstrated code execution or data access.
