Process crash via missing DataView type entry
Published Feb 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds array access in njs 0.7.0 and earlier allows attackers to crash the interpreter with a crafted DataView typeof operation. The njs_vmcode_typeof function indexes its types table with the DataView type, but the table lacks a corresponding element and supplies an invalid pointer to the return-value copy. The fault requires execution of attacker-controlled njs code and produces a null-address read followed by process abort; the published proof does not demonstrate code execution.
