Arbitrary command execution via Samba name injection
Published Feb 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in D-Link DIR-823-Pro firmware 1.0.2 and earlier allows remote attackers on the LAN to execute arbitrary commands. ChgSambaUserSettings passes the untrusted samba_name parameter to a command context without neutralizing shell metacharacters. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the vulnerable interface must be reachable from the LAN.
