Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked startIp parsing
Published Mar 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack buffer overflow in Tenda AX3 16.03.12.10_CN allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted PPTP server request. The formSetPPTPServer handler passes the unchecked startIp HTTP parameter to sscanf for storage in a fixed-size stack buffer. An unauthenticated POST request to /goform/SetPptpServerCfg can corrupt the stack and execute attacker-controlled code on the router.
