Interpreter abort via missing object-type handling
Published Jan 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reachable assertion in ecma_object_get_class_name in JerryScript 3.0.0 allows attackers to abort the interpreter using crafted JavaScript. The function accepts only general or proxy object types, but a crafted class-expression array assignment reaches it with another object type and trips the assertion. Execution requires a user to run attacker-controlled script locally; exploitation terminates the affected interpreter process without reported data disclosure or modification.
