Application crash via delayed value-stack growth
Published Jan 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Denial of service in Duktape 2.99.99 allows local users to crash an embedding application by executing crafted JavaScript. Call setup grows the value stack only after environment setup, allowing limit-triggered relocation to invalidate state later read by duk_push_tval. Reachability requires an application to execute attacker-influenced JavaScript that exhausts the value-stack limit; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash.
