Remote command execution via SSID filter bypass
Published Feb 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-846 firmware 100A43 and 100A53DLA allows remote attackers to execute commands through crafted SSIDs. The HNAP SetMasterWLanSettings handler incompletely filters ssid0 and ssid1 before shell use, allowing newlines or backticks to reach command substitution. The published request uses HNAP authentication and session cookies, while NVD scores privileges as none; successful injection can reboot or fully compromise the router.
