Remote command execution via SSID shell metacharacters
Published Feb 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-846 firmware 100A43 and 100A53DLA allows remote attackers to execute commands through HNAP1 requests. SetWizardConfig.php passes attacker-controlled ssid0 or ssid1 values containing newlines or backticks into shell command handling without neutralizing those metacharacters. The published request includes HNAP authentication and session values, so unauthenticated reachability is not established; injected commands execute in the router's context and can reboot it.
