Code execution via unvalidated NEU parser writes
Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory corruption in Siemens Simcenter Femap 2020.2 and 2021.1 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted NEU files. The NEU parser fails to validate user-supplied data before writing beyond an allocated data structure, corrupting process memory. Exploitation requires a target to open the malicious file or visit attacker-controlled content, and resulting code runs with the current process's privileges.
