Authenticated code execution via email template evaluation
Published Jan 26, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Code injection in JPress 4.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through an administrator-edited email template. ArticleNotifyKit.doSendEmail passes the configurable email title and body to getTemplateByString, which evaluates attacker-supplied template directives. Administrator access and enabled comment email notifications are required; posting a crafted comment then triggers JavaScript engine execution on the server.
