Authenticated code execution via unsafe email template rendering
Published Jan 26, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Code injection in JPress 4.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through an administrator-controlled email template. PageNotifyKit#doSendEmail passes the configurable emailTitle and emailTemplate values to getTemplateByString without restricting executable template expressions. Exploitation requires administrative template access, enabled page-comment email notification, and a submitted page comment; successful execution runs attacker-supplied commands on the server.
