CVE-2021-46043Public exploit

Application crash via unchecked media list pointer

Published Jan 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Pointer dereference in GPAC 1.0.1 allows context-dependent attackers to crash MP4Box by supplying a crafted media file. During MP4Box -hint processing, Media_IsSelfContained passes an invalid list pointer to gf_list_count, which reads from that pointer without first validating it. The target user or workflow must process the file; successful exploitation terminates that MP4Box process without establishing code execution or data access.
