Local denial of service via crafted media
Published Jan 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
A segmentation fault in GPAC 1.0.1 allows local users to crash MP4Box by running its hint operation on a crafted media file. The public report places the fault in co64_box_new while MP4Box shifts media-data offsets, but it does not identify the corrupting operation. Reaching the fault requires a user to process attacker-controlled content; the demonstrated consequence is process termination, not code execution or disclosure.
