Administrator code execution via DLL search hijacking
Published Jan 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
DLL search-path hijacking in ListCheck.exe in Acer Care Center 4.00.3000 through 4.00.3034 allows local users to execute code as administrator. ListCheck.exe handles runtime directory search paths incorrectly and loads an attacker-placed DLL when the application starts. Exploitation requires local file-placement access and application launch; the malicious DLL then executes with local administrator privileges.
