Interpreter crash via CompileBlock out-of-bounds write
Published Dec 31, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Wasm3 0.5.0 allows local users to crash the interpreter by supplying a crafted WebAssembly module. CompileBlock writes outside its intended bounds while compiling conditional blocks reached through Compile_If and CompileElseBlock. Exploitation requires user interaction to make Wasm3 process the module; published impact is limited to a service-interrupting crash.
