SYSTEM command execution via extractable hardcoded key
Published Jan 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Hardcoded credentials in ControlUp Real-Time Agent before 8.2.5 allow remote attackers to execute OS commands with SYSTEM privileges. The Console/Monitor-to-Agent WCF authentication reuses a key embedded in Console/Monitor binaries, allowing a forged peer to authenticate. Network reachability to the agent and extraction of that key are required; successful requests run commands as SYSTEM.
