Authenticated RCE via unsanitized image extension
Published Jan 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Remote code execution in SuiteCRM before 7.12.3 and 8.x before 8.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP via crafted email-template attachments. The repairEntryPointImages function copies an attached file into the public web directory while taking its extension from an unvalidated filename parameter, allowing a PHP webshell to be created. Exploitation requires a SuiteCRM account with EmailTemplates access and results in code execution under the web server account.
