Application crash via unchecked 3MF attributes
Published Jan 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
NULL pointer dereferences in Slic3r libslic3r 1.3.0 allow attackers to crash the application via a crafted 3MF input file. In TMF.cpp, get_attribute() returns NULL for missing vertex, triangle, or volume attributes, but ineffective checks let atof, atoi, or std::string consume that pointer. Exploitation requires a user to direct a local Slic3r process to parse an attacker-supplied file; only an application crash is documented, with no data access or code execution.
