Application crash via missing metadata type attribute
Published Jan 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in the AMF parser of Slic3r libslic3r 1.3.0 allows attackers to crash the application via a crafted AMF document. AMFParserContext::startElement calls get_attribute() for a metadata tag's type attribute and constructs std::string from the returned NULL pointer when that attribute is absent. A user or local workflow must parse the crafted file; exploitation terminates the Slic3r process with a segmentation fault without disclosing or modifying data.
