Host traffic redirection via unrestricted D-Bus connections
Published Mar 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Incorrect access control in GlobalProtect-openconnect before 2.0.0 allows local users to redirect host traffic through a malicious VPN. GPService accepts connection requests for arbitrary OpenConnect-compatible servers over its system D-Bus interface without administrator approval. Any local account that can reach the D-Bus service can start the tunnel, placing the host's routed traffic under the attacker's server.
