Browser script execution via unsanitized NOTE field
Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in SLiMS 9 Bulian 9.4.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in a browser via a crafted NOTE field. The Custom Field Editor saves the NOTE value without effective filtering and later renders the stored value as active markup. Administrator access is required to create the field, and a browser must render the saved value; the demonstrated consequence is script execution in that browser.
