SQL injection via unvalidated sort direction
Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
SQL injection in SLiMS 8 Akasia 8.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to disclose database information through crafted dir values. The affected admin listing pages append the decoded dir value directly to an ORDER BY clause without restricting it to ASC or DESC, allowing SQL expressions to reach MySQL. A librarian session and access to one of four affected admin modules are required; the demonstrated payload uses database-function behavior as an oracle.
