Memory disclosure via in-place state mutation
Published Dec 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in tremor-script 0.7.2 through 0.11.5 allows attackers to disclose freed memory through crafted state assignments. In-place merge and patch operations retain borrowed event strings in persistent state without cloning them, leaving references valid after the backing event buffer is freed. Exploitation requires a consuming Tremor server or other program to execute a script that assigns merge or patch output back to state while referencing event data.
