Memory disclosure via unchecked Read byte count
Published Dec 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information disclosure in the rdiff crate 0.1.2 and earlier allows attackers to read uninitialized memory through its APIs. The Window reading path trusts a Read implementation's returned byte count and sets an internal vector length beyond its allocated capacity. Exploitation requires a caller-controlled Read implementation that reports more bytes than the supplied buffer holds; exposed data is limited to uninitialized process memory returned by rdiff.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
