Memory exposure via uninitialized Read buffers
Published Dec 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory exposure in binjs_io 0.2.1 and earlier allows attackers to read uninitialized memory through a user-provided Read implementation. Four Read paths extend newly allocated vectors before passing their uninitialized buffers to Read or read_exact. Reachability depends on consuming code supplying the Read implementation; the flaw exposes prior heap contents and can trigger undefined behavior.
