Data access and modification via hardcoded password
Published Dec 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Hardcoded credentials in NETGEAR XR1000 firmware before 1.0.0.58 allow attackers to read or alter data via adjacent-network access. The firmware embeds a fixed password accepted for access, but NETGEAR has not identified the account, interface, credential value, or code path. Reachability requires an adjacent network, without prior privileges or user interaction; no service interruption is reported.
