SYSTEM privilege escalation via DLL search-order hijacking
Published Jul 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Sage 300 ERP through 6.8.x allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM through DLL search-order hijacking. The installer prepends C:\Sage\Sage300\Runtime to the system PATH but leaves the application tree writable through inherited C:\ permissions. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and an affected C:\Sage installation; enabled Global Search or Web Screens services provide SYSTEM execution paths.
