Application crash via incorrect image-buffer allocation
Published Dec 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Denial of service in WebKitGTK and WPE WebKit before 2.34.0 allows remote attackers to crash applications via crafted web content. WebCore::ImageBufferCairoImageSurfaceBackend::create allocates memory incorrectly while creating a Cairo-backed image buffer, causing a segmentation violation. A user must load attacker-controlled web content; the demonstrated consequence is an application crash without reported code execution or data exposure.
