CVE-2021-45465

Code execution via unvalidated BMP write destination

Published Jan 4, 2024 · Updated Jun 3, 2025

Write-what-where in BMP parsing in Siemens syngo fastView all versions allows context-dependent attackers to execute code via a crafted file. The BMP parser fails to validate user-supplied data before using it as a write destination, enabling attacker-controlled data to be written to an attacker-chosen location. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious file or visit a malicious page, and execution remains within the current process context.
