Cross-tenant disclosure via exposed power telemetry
Published Aug 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information disclosure in Ampere Altra before SRP 1.08b and Altra Max before SRP 2.05 allows local users to infer tenant secrets via HWmon. The Linux HWmon driver exposes CPU power telemetry to unprivileged software instead of restricting access, enabling power-analysis inference. A multi-tenant Altra-family system with exposed HWmon sensors is required; the reported impact is limited to cross-tenant confidentiality loss.
