Browser script execution via unencoded search query
Published Jan 23, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in AppCMS 2.0.101 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through a crafted search query. The templates/m/inc_head.php file writes the q GET parameter directly into an HTML input value without filtering or output encoding, so a quote can close the attribute and introduce a script element. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted URL; the script runs in the AppCMS origin and can read or alter browser-accessible content.
