Service interruption via oversized password comparison
Published Jan 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Denial of service in Django 2.2 through 2.2.25, 3.2 through 3.2.10, and 4.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt service. UserAttributeSimilarityValidator passes an oversized submitted password and short user attributes to difflib.SequenceMatcher.quick_ratio() without first eliminating length ratios that cannot meet the similarity threshold. Reachability requires unrestricted registration with this validator enabled, and repeated expensive comparisons can exhaust application workers.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
