Cross-site scripting via unescaped error-page URL
Published Dec 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in GNOME Web before 40.4 and 41.x before 41.1 allows remote attackers to execute script via an error page. The browser inserts an untrusted URL into an error-page message without encoding it, allowing crafted navigation data to become executable markup. Exploitation requires a victim to load a crafted URL; script runs in the browser's origin and can read or alter accessible page data.
