Memory disclosure via JPEG2000 use-after-free
Published Jan 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Use-after-free in JPEG2000 processing in Adobe InDesign 16.4 and earlier allows attackers to disclose sensitive memory via a crafted file. The JPEG2000 parser accesses memory after its associated object has been freed; Adobe has not published a more specific function or code path. Exploitation requires a victim to open the malicious file, and the bounded consequence is memory disclosure that can weaken ASLR rather than code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
