Private-page disclosure via rollback parameter transclusion
Published Dec 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information disclosure in MediaWiki before 1.35.5, 1.36.x before 1.36.3, and 1.37.x before 1.37.1 allows remote attackers to read private wiki pages. The rollback action expands a crafted from parameter as a template transclusion and returns the referenced page without enforcing its read permission. Unauthenticated exposure requires a private wiki with at least one page allowed by $wgWhitelistRead or $wgWhitelistReadRegexp; the flaw discloses page content without data loss.
