CVE-2021-44960Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Renderer crash via unchecked root element

Published Feb 15, 2022 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Null pointer dereference in the SVG++ 1.3.0 demo renderer allows remote attackers to crash it through a crafted rootless XML document. The renderer passes XMLDocument::getRoot() directly to load_document without checking whether parsing returned a root element. Exploitation requires the document to be opened by the demo renderer and terminates that process through a zero-address read.
