Local privilege escalation in QVIS NVR and DVR firmware before 2021-12-13 allows local users to obtain root privileges through sudo. The appliance grants the qvisdvr account unsafe sudo authorization, but public records do not identify the permitted command or rule. Access to the low-privileged qvisdvr account is required, and successful exploitation grants unrestricted root control of the recorder.
