Unauthenticated mailbox reservation via unchecked registration
Published Dec 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper authentication in glFusion CMS 1.7.9 allows remote attackers to reserve another user's mailbox through public registration. The /public_html/users.php registration path accepts a mailbox value without proving that the registrant controls the address. Unauthenticated network access is sufficient, and the documented consequence is denial of legitimate registration with that mailbox rather than takeover of an existing account.
