Application crash via unvalidated ES descriptor type
Published Dec 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Invalid memory address dereference in GPAC 1.1.0 allows attackers to crash MP4Box by processing a crafted media file. The dump_od_to_saf function in src/scene_manager/scene_dump.c treats the first object-descriptor entry as a GF_ESD and dereferences its fields after checking only for null, not the expected GF_ODF_ESD_TAG. Exploitation requires MP4Box to process attacker-controlled input with the -lsr option and interrupts only that application process.
