Stored XSS via unrestricted menu button upload
Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in XpressEngine before 1.11.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via a crafted menu button upload. The menu_normal_btn path in modules/menu/menu.admin.controller.php accepts HTML suffixes and stores the files in a web-accessible directory. Authenticated site-map access and a victim opening the uploaded HTML are required; the consequence is script execution in the victim's browser.
