CVE-2021-44833

Local configuration disclosure via permissive default file creation

Published Dec 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Incorrect default permissions in OpenSearch CLI 1.0.0 allow local users to read data from its auto-generated configuration file. The default-file creation path uses mode 0755 for the configuration directory and creates the file without an owner-only permission change. Exploitation requires local access under a different account, and the exposed profile settings can disclose connection or authentication data.
