Remote code execution via untrusted deserialization
Published Dec 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Untrusted deserialization in Veritas Enterprise Vault through 14.1.2 allows remote attackers to execute code via .NET Remoting. EVStorageQueueBroker.exe accepts user-supplied .NET Remoting data without proper validation and deserializes it in the Enterprise Vault Storage Service context. Remote reachability requires RDP access to a network VM, knowledge of server details and an improperly configured server firewall.
