Remote code execution via unsafe .NET Remoting deserialization
Published Dec 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Deserialization in Veritas Enterprise Vault 14.1.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code via .NET Remoting. The EVExchangeWebServicesProxy service reconstructs objects from attacker-supplied command data received through a dynamically assigned .NET Remoting TCP port. Exploitation requires RDP access through Remote Desktop Users membership, knowledge of runtime connection details, and an improperly configured server firewall.
