Authenticated script execution via unescaped plugin type
Published Jan 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in django CMS allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in an affected user's browser via a crafted plugin_type value. PluginAddValidationForm interpolates the unescaped value into an invalid-type error that placeholderadmin returns directly in an HTTP 400 response. Exploitation requires a valid CMS administration session and an affected user to load the crafted add-plugin URL; the script then runs in that web origin.
