Unauthenticated code execution via register buffer overflow
Published Mar 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Buffer overflow in TP-LINK WR-886N firmware 20190826 2.3.8 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted POST request. The /cloud_config/router_post/register handler mishandles supplied request data, overflowing a buffer during registration processing. The endpoint is reachable over the network without authentication, so a crafted request can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
