Unauthenticated code execution via login buffer overflow
Published Mar 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Buffer overflow in TP-Link WR886N firmware 20190826 2.3.8 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted login POST request. The /cloud_config/router_post/login handler copies attacker-controlled request data without checking its size, overflowing its destination buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation grants code execution in the router firmware context.
