CVE-2021-44502Network attack vector

Service crash via attacker-controlled memset size

Published Apr 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Resource exhaustion in FIS GT.M through V7.0-000 allows remote attackers to crash the database engine with crafted input. Calls to util_format in sr_unix/util_output.c let crafted input control the size passed to memset without enforcing a safe bound. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation exhausts available memory and terminates the database service.
