Administrator escalation via unrestricted registration role
Published Oct 16, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Privilege escalation in WPDeveloper Essential Addons for Elementor 4.6.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain administrator access. The Login Register Form widget lets an Elementor page builder select Administrator as the registration role, then assigns that role to a newly registered account without an authorization restriction. Contributor-level page-builder access and a configured registration form are required; successful exploitation grants full WordPress site administration.
