Device reboot via unchecked UpgradePrepare JSON type
Published Jan 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Improper input validation in Reolink RLC-410W 3.0.0.136_20121102 allows remote attackers to reboot the camera via an HTTP request. The cgiserver.cgi UpgradePrepare parser treats a non-object param value as an object, invokes the JSON subscription operator, and reaches an assertion that stops the process and triggers a device reboot. Talos assigns no required privileges, although its technical report states that most affected APIs normally require a logged-in session unless combined with a separate authentication bypass.
