Session script execution via unsanitized unknown messages
Published Mar 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in OX App Suite Chat 7.10.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script code in a victim's session. The frontend escapes recognized system messages before adding them to the DOM but omits that check for unknown message types containing attacker-controlled HTML or JavaScript. Exploitation requires a victim to follow a crafted link or connect to compromised chat infrastructure; execution can expose the session or trigger unwanted web-interface actions.
